Please see this New York Times article that highlights many of the struggles veterans face upon entering higher education, promissing practices that support veterans on campus, and a recent study by Operation College Promise and the Pat Tillman Foundation that suggests student-veterans thrive in supportive schools. John Powers, Operation Vets founder and lead consultant, was a co-author of the study outlined in the article, along with Wendy Lang-Operation College Promise’s Director.
